The iWork applications also have touch screen support and compatibility with the iCloud software. IWork is an office suite of applications created by Apple Inc. For its macOS and iOS operating systems, and also available cross-platform through the iCloud website. It includes Keynote , a presentation program the word processing and desktop publishing application Pages 1 4 and the spreadsheet application Numbers. 5If you're still using an older device, and haven't purchased Pages, Keynote, or Numbers because it would cost you $9.99, you're in luck. Apple has just dropped the price of it's iWork suite to the low price of free. Many Apple customers were already likely eligible to download the software at no cost if they had made a device purchase in the last few years. This is fantastic news for people still running older Macs, iPhones, and iPads. I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro and had to drop $30 for iWork because it wasn't free for me. Now that Apple has dropped the price to zero dollars, it is likely more users will join the bandwagon. Even if you were able to download such programs as Pages on iOS, it wouldn't be very useful if you couldn't continue working on it on your Mac without paying a premium price. Also, there's no spreadsheet program in iWork. That of course is for you to decide,” Gruman writes. “Of course there’s also Google G Suite (Docs, Sheets, and Slides), which includes mobile versions of the apps for iOS.”“Which of these office suites should you use on your iPad? Part of the answer depends on the functionality of the individual apps, but part depends on your greater ecosystem—namely, how your iPad productivity work fits into your overall productivity work on computers and other devices. Apple showed the way years ago with its iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote), and Microsoft has validated the notion with its Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint),” Galen Gruman writes for InfoWorld. “The iPad makes a great laptop, and nowhere is that more obvious than in its productivity tools. After Microsoft Office, the next and best office suite for Mac users to immediately start using is the Apple iWork suite.
Iworks Or Office Update In NearlyBut Office has the key advantages of working well across all platforms and fitting in easily with your existing Office infrastructure.”Tons more in the full article – recommended – here.MacDailyNews Take: Apple’s iWork easily does everything we need (of course, we’re all-Apple here, so iWork offers seamless continuity across all of our devices).IWork is crappy! Not that it’s a bad product, but Apple has not given any of it much of an update in nearly 8 yrs. The more Apple-centered you are, the more iWork is plausible. “The good news is you really can’t go wrong with Office or iWork. ![]() And, then the iCloud version with even more features missing from both the Mac and iPad Apps.If Apple would update and bring feature parity across all platforms, I’d never complain again, but they’ve haven’t and they’ve allowed this to languish like many other things. Next, they rolled out as an iPad App with missing features from the Mac App. They’ve slowly brought back many, but not nearly all of the features of Pages 09. My previous Keynote files did not work correctly due to the missing features forcing me to have to do major revisions (which I chose to do in Powerpoint). Then came the MAJOR rewrite with all the missing features. I was a BIG user of Keynote from its initial release through iWorks 09 as it beat the heck out of Powerpoint. ![]() The quality of the software should match the quality of the hardware.Folks, what are you expecting from today’s Apple. (Check out App Store reviews for specific complaints.)Really, really stupid. It supports the Touch Bar, but you can’t even link text boxes — perhaps the single most basic layout function. It remains pathetic to the most recent version.I emphasize that I am no power user at all, but Pages’ capabilities remain far, far below my needs. Tim Cook would not have been able to foresee the demise of Adobe Flash as Steve did. Tim Cook is not a digital expert like Steve Jobs was. Everything is about damn phone. Fantasy map making software for macCook has no seed and it take time to seed plants, water them until they produce real “fruit” to harvest. As someone said elsewhere in this blog, Apple is simply “harvesting” the seed planted long time ago by Cook’s predecessor. Today, Mac line of computers and any software that was great is no longer getting serious attention. Apple once had great product lines and was pumping out surprising products. Mr.Cook is not using Apple computer or iPads etc, but his calculator. IWork suite had an excellent potential to make “Apple life” more productive but alas, they are now neglected.
